In the field of networking, a proxy server is defined as a system or a program that process the requests of clients and by forwarding queries and request to other systems or servers. There are many types of proxy server, and one of this is the anonymous proxy server, a.k.a. anonymizer. This type of server can turn Internet activities untraceable. It will access the Internet on a user’s behalf without revealing the user’s information. In essence, this type of server can secure a user by not revealing the computer’s information.

Proxy servers can serve a lot of purpose, i. e. lowering risks. They can also be utilized in rendering violations in human rights (i.e. expression). With a server, users need not worry losing their reputation. These servers also prevent false identity claim, and they can also protect browsing histories from being exposed to the public. Despite the protection it offers; anonymous servers are not perfectly safe. If the server has the ability to store logs of arriving and outgoing connections, then it is unavoidable that experts can reverse the ability of the server to reveal the users that used that particular server. This also applies to server that re located in countries where it can be tested to warrant searches.

Web-based anonymous proxy servers have “man in the middle” ability attacks. The server may opt to modify the message the user is forwarding. It ma add and remove content. The server can also screen, block, and keep track of unsecured data such as username, passwords, credit card information, and other personal information. This can be avoided by ensuring that the information to be requested is encrypted. Also, as much as possible communications involving sensitive information should be kept outside of the serer.

Even the finest servers have loopholes. No matter how secure, an anonymizer cannot screen malicious data that may give a clue on the indentity of a user. Safety precautions should be properly observed to avoid leakage of information. Such servers are also common targets, especially public anonymous proxy servers. Anonymous proxy servers can be protocol specific or protocol independent. Protocol-specific server can only work with a single protocol. A plus in the use of the said type is that it needs no extra software. An operation starts when a user makes a connection to the server. Instructions are transported via a message. The server will then contact the source indicated in the message and relay with the command exposed.

On the other hand, protocol-independent servers use tunneling. The protocols that can be used by the server include SOCKS, OpenVPN, and PPTP. In this type, the application requested should be capable of supporting a tunneling protocol. If not, software that would force the connections in the tunnel should be installed.

Free anonymous proxy servers, such as SOCKS and HTTP proxies, are typically operated without the consent of the serve owner. Malwares are the ones that usually the ones that installs such service. These servers can be used to track passwords, generate advertisements, or cause any severe damage to a server owner. This is the indirect consequence of a high bandwidth used by the breach in security.

If you are one who cares about anonymously surfing the internet, then it should be important for you to be able to do it properly. If you are one of those who think that you are safely moving across the internet after having turned on the privacy setting in your web browser, you’re so wrong. You may be removing some traces of web sites in your own local PC but the visits that you have made are recorded and logged on the local ISP logs, logged on the web servers visits.

As there are brilliant minds easing out for us our lives with loads of different ways to connect with others, there are also those with maliciously dirty and mind wrecking ideas with the use of the same media. Having precaution in place as you use the camera is a wide place.

There are a lot of people online out there wanting to trap our data and patterns of surfing, people such as identity thieves, spammers, and even our own Government. Searching for a number of few free anonymous proxies on the internet is not at all an easy experience. Avoiding the proxies that were set-up to draw in and trap the thrifty anonymous surfer will be one thing to avoid also, or you might come across the servers which were placed there to track and monitor your surfing who are out there to be able to deluge you with a SPAM.

Learn How to be Anonymous in Internet and enjoy the following benefits:
PRIVACY – Learning how to be anonymous in internet maintains and gives you more privacy. It gives you the liberty to surf without restraint or having to worry over anyone gaining access to your PC, as well as all the data and information stored in your PC. Since your activities on the internet are kept safe and private, the possibility of anyone or getting hold of what you do or did online is now eliminated.

SAFETY – Surfing anonymously keeps harmful programs from intruding and being downloaded to your computer.

ENCRYPTION – Knowing how to how to be anonymous allows your internet connection and online communication to get encrypted. SSL technology and SSH tunneling is used to be able to do this encrypting. The data that comes and goes from your computer is being encrypted ensuring the data is safe from hackers and unwanted internet watchers with malicious intention.

SECURITY – The internet has grown widely and vastly with worldwide accessing, anyone can go on the internet, even those with malicious intentions. It will be hard for you to know which website is letting in harmful programs into your computer. In learning how to be anonymous in internet also give you the advantage preventing any unofficial download on your computer. When you surf anonymously, the web searches are now not able to pharm (redirect) you to other websites who gain by tracking and hijacking your web browsing.

ANONYMITY – Anonymity is a given when you surf anonymously on the internet. This will allow you to utilize anonymous proxy surfing methods that will be able to channel your surfing through other PC (servers). The logic is simple to analyze, your web browser connects to a proxy server, and then this in return connects to the internet. You are now able to mask your identity, presence, and your computer’s identity as well. For both personal and business purposes, this will be beneficial to you and totally useful.

In these days, many people wants to be anonymous in Internet. It could have many pros and cons that we will consider in this article. Remember that specific names of computer software, such as programs, systems and routines, should always observer the form used by the manufacturer.

By nature the Internet provides a cloak of anonymity to all who venture in. This is comforting to all participants. Unfortunately this also leads to much more verbal aggression than we would find in real life, but I digress. These are quite easy to use and require nothing on your part besides an active Internet connection. These web anonymizers (like anonymous emails) require you only to enter the URL of the site you wish to visit and give it a click.

Your IP address is hidden and replaced with the IP address of the site’s server. This is a great example of proxy avoidance and will get you onto a blocked website, but only offers minimal, if any, data protection and encryption services. The main purpose of the web-based anonymous proxy is to get on a website such as MySpace, that would normally be blocked by an IT Department. Another downside is that this type of proxy can’t gain access to sites that use Secure Socket Layer or Secure Shell encryption, such as banking sites.

Remember that a computer uses ARPs to find computers on a network by keeping a table of MACs and IP addresses mappings.

Sending a really anonymous email could be very easy if you complete these steps. Please, be advised that all steps must be completed carefully. Let’s take an elementary, imaginary example.

First, find and choose one functional and reliable remailers. A remailer is a computer service which privatizes your email. Not all remailers are always online or functional, but it is possible to investigate the reliability of a remailer before using it. In my experience, truly ANONYMOUS remailers are used almost entirely by computer programmers and hobbyists who love the technical ins and outs of the Internet.

Get the public PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) keys of the remailers. This will allow the message to be encrypted for anonymity and privacy. It is important to know the public keys of both remailers. To do this, either the program PGP Home 9.0 or GnuPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) must be installed. They can be used to download the PGP keys for the remailers.

Open Note pad. Any other plain text editor available will also work.

On the first line type “::”.

Enter “Anon-To:” followed by the recipient’s email address. Leave one line blank then begin typing the message.

Save the file to your computer as “mail.txt.”

On Windows, select ‘Run’ from the Start menu and type “cmd” and press Enter. On other platforms, open a command prompt.

Use “cd” to go to your Desktop directory. This is what it looks like on windows, “cd c:\Documents and Settings\menon\Desktop”.

Type in “gpg-ea-r [last remailer address] remail.txt.”. Replace [last remailer address] with the email address of the last remailer in the chain. If two are being used, the last one is the second remailer’s address. For example, to send an anonymous email through remailer@aaabbb.net then through anon@wayway1.org, type in “gpg-ea-r anon@wayway1.org mail.txt”.

Press Enter. GnuPG should ask for verification that the message is encrypted to an unverified key. Type “y” and Press Enter.

Open the encrypted mail.txt file in Note pad. The file might be named “mail.txt.asc” or simply “mail.asc.” Type “::” in the first line and press Enter.

Type “Anon-To:” followed by email address of the last remailer in the chain. The next to last remailer needs to send the message to the last remailer. This is the email address for which the message was encrypted.

Leave one line blank, type in “::” and press Enter, then type Encrypted: PGP”. Be sure that there is another empty line before the encrypted message starts.

Save the file as “mail.txt” again and overwrite the existing file.

Go back on the command line and type “gpg-ea-r [next but last remailer address] mail.txt”. Replace this [next but last remailer address] with the email address of the next but last remailer in the chain.

GnuPG should ask for verification that the message is encrypted to an unverified key. Type “y” and press Enter. This should overwrite the existing “mail.asc” file. Open the file again and enter “::” at the top, followed, in the next line, by “Encrypted: PGP”, and leave one line blank, again, before the message starts.

Press CTRL-A (or ALT-A depending on the platform) to select the entire text, then CTRL-C or ALT-C to copy.

Create a new message in the email service and address it to the first remailer in the chain. Then paste the text in the message and send.

It is possible that something get wrong if any step is not completed perfectly. Please be advised on that. In some emails, when prefixes are attached to numerals, the compounds are hyphenated. Also, prefixed that are repeated in the same compound are separated by an hyphen.
