In the advent of the rise of technology today, along with it comes the feeling of losing one’s security. That everything we do can be seen and can be heard, given the fact that the very someone trying to nose his way into your life has the proper equipments to do so. This time I am not going to talk much about all others, but only about recording conversations.

There are really many reasons why we would want to record our conversations (for being anonymous). Some would like to do recordings to keep and to be able to hold on to something when the conversation ends. Usually, we think of recording phone conversations when we find ourselves talking to a loved one, a friend, an enemy and even a stranger. We can give a lot of reasons why we would want to be able to just record every phone conversation we have (like conference calling services), in reality we can never record conversations anytime we want. There are laws that prohibit us from doing this very thing usually based on the grounds of invasion of privacy. In order to be able to record phone conversations, one must get a permit for it. If you do not know how to get one, you can always go to your nearest city hall and ask for help from clerks. As we all know and say, ignorance of the law is never an excuse. So before you start recording phone conversations between your lovey-dovey and you, you should be aware of the parameters of recording phone conversations of the state you are both in.

Granted that it is legal to record phone conversations in your area, you still have to ask permission from the other party involved to avoid doing an act of deception and even be sued for doing such without their consent. Not all people would agree to be recorded, so we must respect their decision when they decline to be recorded.

As you are capable of recording phone conversations, other people can do so too. So you now want to be equipped in having the knowledge if you are being recorded without your consent? Well, as there may be products that claim to be able to do such thing. Experts want you to take heed that there is none. The only way to be sure that your word can’t be used against you is to converse in caution. Do not worry though, as technology is evolving, who knows—tomorrow there might just be a thing. Recording phone conversation is really a practical thing to do and aside from the fact that it is fully covered in laws and in rules, it can even be really technical. The only thing we can do is to abide by these rules and accept the fact that we are all vulnerable to this kind action. And always remember that these rules were created not to harm us nor create hassles in our lives but to make this world we live in a safer and a much more secure place.
